Eight of My Latest Reads

Have not been keeping up with the ole blog. Ha. I do still want to write at least a little something of what I have been reading. That way when people ask, “Hey what have you been reading?” I don’t have to say in all honesty , “Quite a bit, but I will have to think hard on titles and authors…”. Insight into my brain which is brimming with to do lists, schedules, fretting over four teenage boys, kdramas, and some books. Of course there are also many books, I have picked up and put right back down. For the most part, these are some of the better books I have read this year.

*Book 30 in 2022. “An Anonymous Girl” by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

This is a psychological thriller. I have read Sarah Greer before and really enjoyed it. I could not put this crazy story down. Overall afterthought, pretty good.

*Book 31 in 2022. “The Mitford Murders” by Jessica Fellowes.

I was looking for a new, cute, detective type series to start. This was all over the place. I might be willing to keep up with the main character, but not sure if I am ready to try the next book. Ha. Overall afterthought, just ok.

*Book 32 in 2022. “Into the Free” by Julie Cantrell.

I could not put this down. Julie Cantrell is an amazing story teller. An intense coming of age story for a young girl in Mississippi. Even though this was a hard read, I really enjoyed it. Overall afterthought, so well done.

*Book 33 in 2022. “The Retreat” by Sarah Pearse.

This is the second book with Detective Elin Warner. Another murder, another mystery. I actually enjoy a good thriller. Sarah Pearse has enough suspense without too much yuck. Overall afterthought, can’t wait for the next book.

*Book 34 in 2022. “The Librarian Spy” by Madeline Martin.

Honestly it is been a while since I have read some WWII fiction that I really enjoyed. I am definitely going to check out another of Madeline Martin’s books. Part of the story takes place in Portugal, which I had not read about during WWII before. Even though most of this genre is hard to read, I keep taking it all in. Overall afterthought, great story.

*Book 35 in 2022. “Spring Fever” by Mary Kay Andrews.

I am just a Mary Kay Andrews fan. There are not many of her books that I have not liked. This one even had a little bit different spin on her love story. Overall afterthought, you know I liked it.

*Book 36 in 2022. “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan.

Why have I never read this trilogy? I saw the movie when it came out and thought that was enough. No, it wasn’t. The book was so much better. I have already started book number two. Overall afterthought, loved it.

*Book 37 in 2022. “Maybe You Should Talk to Someone” by Lori Gottileb.

Now I want to read all of Lori Gottlieb’s books. For nonfiction, this read like a novel. Could not put it down. This was my book club pick that I probably would not of chosen to read on my own. I just loved the humor and humanity. I am pretty sure I ugly cried, but it was a good cry. Ha. Overall afterthought really good.
